Leaside High
School Council

What we do

School Council is an important advisory body to the school and the school board (TDSB) . The purpose of a school council is, through the active participation of parents, to improve student achievement and increase accountability of the education system to parents.

Research tells us that when families are involved in their children's education the results are positive for student achievement. The Leaside High School Council is working to build effective home-school partnerships.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We, the students, staff and parents of Leaside High School, acknowledge that we are on the Lands of the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Wendat, and the Haudenosaunee. We recognize that Toronto sits within the boundaries of Treaty 13 and the Williams Treaties. We are grateful for the opportunity to meet on this Land and we honour the generations of Indigenous Peoples currently caring for the Land, and for having taken care of the Land since time immemorial. We look to Indigenous leadership to guide us in our relationships to the Land. As a community, we recognize our responsibilities in the ongoing work to challenge colonialism and we are committed to developing respectful reciprocal relationships between First Peoples and settlers. We also recognize the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis, and the Inuit peoples.
