In January 2026, the School Council hosted Toronto Police Constable Megan McGarry for an eye-opening session on the digital world our students navigate daily.
This session was designed to help parents recognize online risks, understand current social media trends in Toronto schools, and learn how to respond to cyberbullying or online harm. Constable McGarry’s presentation provided practical tools to help parents start meaningful conversations with their kids about staying safe online.

About the Speaker
Megan McGarry is a Police Constable with the Toronto Police Service. Over her 24-year career, she has served in the Public Response Unit, Criminal Investigation Bureau, Youth Bureau/Family Violence Unit, and the Community Response Unit as a School Officer. She has also worked with the Mobile Crisis Intervention Team. Constable McGarry currently serves in the Community Partnership and Engagement Unit as the Toronto Police Service’s School Board Liaison Officer.
